Outdoor charging station with distribution box

Outdoor charging stations with integrated distribution boxes provide safe, weather-resistant power distribution for EVs, bicycles, and scooters, supporting multiple chargers and easy expansion.

Key Features

Integrated Distribution and Protection: Many outdoor charging stations, such as ABB Kabeldon boards, come with a main switch fuse, transformer kit for current transformers (CTs), and space for kWh meters, allowing both power distribution and billing directly at the outdoor location. These boards can feed multiple chargers via fuse switch disconnectors and are designed for outdoor installation, eliminating the need for an indoor electrical room and saving space and cost.

Weather-

Resistant Enclosures: Solutions like the Velec Charger and Rittal enclosures provide IP55-rated waterproof protection, safeguarding chargers and electrical components from rain, dust, and vandalism. They often include lockable boxes to secure chargers and prevent theft, with cable glands for safe connections. Expandability and Flexibility: Outdoor distribution boards allow easy expansion by adding extra incoming and outgoing power cables.

Pre-wired or unwired configurations are available, enabling installation in various outdoor environments such as parking lots, campuses, patios, or rooftops. Versatile Applications: These stations support Level 2 EV chargers for cars, as well as electric bicycles and scooters. They can be customized in color and configuration to match the environment, and some systems include space for load management and power electronics.

Durability and Compliance: High-quality outdoor enclosures are designed to withstand corrosion, extreme weather, and electromagnetic interference. They are UL-listed or compliant with local electrical codes, ensuring safe and reliable operation in public or private spaces.
