Fixing the cable tray to the wall cover plate

Cable tray cover plates can be securely fixed to wall-mounted trays using pressing plates, screw fasteners, buckles, or specialized wall-mounted brackets depending on installation orientation and load requirements.

Methods for Fixing the Cover Plate

Pressing Plate Fixing: Punch holes in the cover plate, then press a plate over it and secure with screws. This method works for both horizontal and vertical installations and ensures a strong connection between the cover and tray. Screw Fastening: The cover plate is punched and attached to the tray using screw buckles.

This method is reliable for horizontal or vertical installations and allows easy removal for maintenance. Buckle Fixing: The cover plate is secured without punching by bending folds at the ends of the buckle. This method is suitable mainly for horizontal installations, as vertical setups may allow the cover to slip.

Padlock or Seven-

Shaped Buckle Fixing: These methods provide additional security for areas requiring restricted access or enhanced mechanical stability.

Wall-

Mounted Tray Support

To mount the cable tray to a wall: Wall-Mounted Brackets: Use brackets designed to hold the tray securely against the wall. These prevent sagging and shifting over time and are adjustable for alignment. Mounting Clamps: Clamps can secure the tray to the wall or bracket, providing additional stability for heavy cables.

Support Spacing: Standard practice is to space wall brackets approximately 4–5 feet apart. For heavier loads or longer spans, reduce spacing to maintain structural integrity.

Installation Tips

Ensure the tray and cover are made of compatible materials (steel, stainless steel, or aluminum) to prevent corrosion and maintain durability. For solid-bottom trays, ensure the cover fully protects cables from dust, water, or falling objects. Verify that the chosen fixing method is suitable for the orientation (horizontal or vertical) and the expected mechanical load.

Use appropriate fasteners and accessories recommended by the tray manufacturer to comply with safety standards and DIN EN 61537 guidelines. By selecting the correct fixing method and properly spacing wall-mounted supports, the cable tray and cover plate will remain secure, safe, and accessible for maintenance.
