Fiber Optic Coupler for Polarization Maintenance

Polarization-Maintaining Fiber Coupler (PM fiber coupler) is a special fiber device that can keep the polarization state unchanged during the transmission of optical signals. We offer a comprehensive range of polarization-maintaining (PM) fiber optic couplers and splitters, designed using three fabrication methods: fusion, micro-optics, and waveguide (PLC). Fusion Couplers: These provide the lowest loss (0. 3 dB) and the highest optical power handling, with a wavelength. Fused couplers are used to split optical signals between two (or more) fibers or to combine optical signals from two (or more) fibers into one fiber. They are constructed by fusing and tapering the fibers together.

Working principle of fiber optic end-face coupler

The most common operating principle of a directional fiber coupler is evanescent wave coupling in a configuration where two fiber cores come close to each other. A fiber coupler is a passive optical device that manages the flow of light signals within an optical network. It functions by dividing a single incoming light path into multiple outgoing paths, or by combining light from several input paths into a single output fiber. This capability is fundamental. When using fiber optics, one often needs to use fiber couplers for various purposes. Directional 2 × 2 couplers (see Figure 1) are usually used for. 📦 For purchasing, use the RP Photonics Buyer's Guide for fiber couplers. It provides an expert-curated supplier directory, buyer-focused technical background information, and structured selection criteria to support professional procurement decisions.
