Germany s Global Energy Interconnection Construction

The project, led by global investors Meridiam, Allianz Capital Partners, Kansai Electric Power and TEPCO, will allow up to 1. 4 GW of electricity to flow in both directions – enough to power up to 1. 5 million homes over its lifetime – helping to boost energy security and resilience. The NeuConnect Interconnector will create the first direct power link between Germany and Great Britain, connecting two of Europe's largest energy markets for the first time. Construction is well underway on the project and will see around 725km of land and subsea cables form an 'invisible highway'. International transmission lines, so-called interconnectors, connect the transmission system of 50Hertz with the transmission systems of other countries. They are part of a sustainable development of the European grid infrastructure. In the video, Federal Minister Robert Habeck explains why this is important for the energy transition as a whole. 8 billion ($3 billion) project is set for a 2028 start "delivering green electricity to Germany,".
