Standard Diagram of Distribution Box Wiring in Factory Building

A standard distribution box wiring involves connecting the main MCB to an RCCB, then distributing power to individual MCBs for each circuit, with proper neutral and earth links. Components of a Distribution BoxMain MCB (Double Pole): Acts as the main switch, typically rated 63A for domestic use, receiving the incoming phase and neutral supply.

RCC

B (Residual Current Circuit Breaker): Provides protection against leakage currents and electrical shocks, usually rated 30mA for single-phase installations.

Single-

Pole MC

Bs: Protect individual output circuits; double-pole MCBs may be used for special loads. Neutral Link: Distributes neutral to all output circuits. Earth Link: Connects all earth wires from supply and loads to ensure safety.

Wiring Sequence

Incoming Supply: Connect the phase and neutral wires from the main power supply to the input terminals of the main MCB.

Main MCB to RCC

B: Connect the output of the main MCB to the input of the RCCB.

RCCB to Output MC

Bs: For single-pole MCBs, connect only the phase wire from the RCCB output to each MCB input. For double-pole MCBs, connect both phase and neutral wires from the RCCB output to the MCB input. Neutral Distribution: Connect the neutral wire from the RCCB output to the neutral link, which then feeds all single-pole MCBs.

Earth Connections: Connect the earth wire from the supply and all loads to the earth link. Load Connections: Single-pole MCB: Connect the phase to the MCB output, neutral to the neutral link, and earth to the earth link.

Double-pole MC

B: Connect both phase and neutral to the MCB output, and earth to the earth link.

Wiring Best Practices

Wire Management: Route wires neatly, using plastic ties to bind them uniformly. Marking: Clearly label AC/DC and voltage levels for each circuit. Safety Checks: Perform visual inspections and multimeter tests to ensure no short circuits or overloads before powering on.

Placement: Install the distribution box in a dry, accessible area with proper ventilation, typically at ~1. 5m height. Compliance: Follow local electrical codes (NEC, IEC, or regional standards) and use certified components.

Diagram Overview

A typical single-phase distribution box diagram shows: Incoming phase and neutral → Main MCB → RCCB → Output MCBs → LoadsNeutral link connected to all single-pole MCBsEarth link connected to all loads and supply This layout ensures safe, organized, and efficient distribution of electricity throughout the building while providing protection against overloads, short circuits, and leakage currents.
