How to connect the BBU and the fiber optic tray

Connect the BBU to the fiber optic tray by inserting the optical modules into the BBU ports, routing the fiber cables along the cabinet, securing them with binding straps, and installing winding pipes at the fiber ends.

Step-by-

Step Connection Process1.

Prepare the BBU and Fiber Modules

Wear an ESD wrist strap or gloves to prevent electrostatic damage to the BBU subrack. Insert the baseband processing boards, fan modules, and power modules into the correct slots in the BBU subrack and secure them with screws. Remove the dustproof caps from the optical fiber connectors before connecting.

2.

Insert Optical Modules

Lower the puller of the optical module and insert it into the SFP0/SFP1 port on the BBU or LMPT/UMPT module. Raise the puller to secure the module in place. 3.

Connect Fiber Cables

Route the fiber optic cable along the left side of the cabinet and lead it out through the bottom cable outlet. Connect the fiber to the corresponding FE/GE port on the BBU module, ensuring a snug and secure fit. If connecting to an external RRU, use a bi-directional fiber link such as CPRI for high-speed communication.

4.

Cable Management

Use optical fiber binding straps to secure the fiber along the BBU cable claws or designated cable paths. Install winding pipes at the end of the fiber to protect the connector and maintain proper bend radius. Ensure that power cables, signal cables, and optical fibers are separately bound to avoid interference.

5.

Final Checks

Verify that all connections are secure and reliable, paying attention to both the BBU ports and the fiber tray. Confirm that the fiber routing avoids sharp bends and maintains the minimum bend radius to prevent signal loss. Test the link for proper communication between the BBU and the RRU or fiber network.

By following these steps, the BBU will be properly connected to the fiber optic tray, ensuring low-latency, high-bandwidth communication and reliable network performance. Proper cable management and securing of optical fibers are critical to maintain signal integrity and prevent damage during operation.
