A three-level distribution box is connected by linking the main three-phase supply to the main MCCB, distributing power through MCBs to each level, and ensuring proper neutral and earth connections for safety and load balance. Step 1: Safety and PreparationBefore starting, turn off the main power supply and verify with a voltage tester that no current is present. Wear insulated gloves and safety goggles.

Gather tools such as wire strippers, pliers, screwdrivers, and appropriate cables. Determine the load requirements for each level to select the correct MCCB and MCB ratings. Step 2: Main Supply ConnectionConnect the three-phase supply lines (L1, L2, L3) to the input terminals of the main MCCB.

Connect the neutral wire to the neutral link in the distribution box. If multiple neutral links exist, join them together. Connect the earth wire to the earth link; multiple earth links should also be interconnected.

Step 3: Connecting Protective DevicesFrom the output of the MCCB, connect to the input of the MCBs for each level. Use busbars for high-current connections to ensure stability and safety. If required, install RCCBs or RCDs after the MCCB to provide additional protection against leakage currents.

The output of RCCBs then feeds the MCBs. Step 4: Level DistributionFor a three-level building, divide the load into three parts, assigning one phase to each level to maintain balanced loading. Each level can have its own single-phase distribution board connected to the main three-phase DB.

The neutral can be common but should be properly routed to each level's DB. Connect the phase lines from the MCBs to the respective loads on each level. If the load requires neutral, connect it to the neutral link; connect the load's earth wire to the earth link.

Step 5: Final ChecksEnsure all connections are tight and secure, with no exposed conductors. Verify that all protective devices are correctly rated and installed. Test the system with a voltage tester before switching on the main supply.

Confirm that each level receives the correct phase and that the neutral and earth connections are continuous.

Additional Tips

Use color-coded wires according to IEC standards: typically brown, black, and grey for phases, blue for neutral, and green/yellow for earth. Maintain proper spacing between busbars and MCBs to prevent short circuits. Label each MCB and circuit for easy identification and maintenance.

By following these steps, a three-level distribution box can be safely and efficiently connected, ensuring balanced power distribution and protection across all levels.
